Northern Pike

Targeting Northern Pike near Parma Heights means venturing to some of the larger inland lakes and reservoirs in Northeast Ohio. While not as abundant as in some other regions, pike can be found in places like LaDue Reservoir and occasionally in the Cuyahoga River. Spring and early fall are the best times to target these predators, as they become more active in cooler water temperatures. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and crankbaits are effective lures. Focus on areas with submerged weeds, points, and drop-offs. LaDue Reservoir, in particular, has some good pike habitat. Be prepared for a good fight, as pike are known for their aggressive strikes and powerful runs. Local tip: Use a wire leader to prevent pike from biting through your line. The pike in this area tend to be ambush predators, so focus your efforts on areas where they can easily hide and strike at passing prey.
