Northern Pike

Though not a primary pike fishery, Lake Roaming Rock in Roaming Shores, Ohio, can surprise anglers with the occasional northern pike. These predators tend to lurk in weedy bays and along submerged timber, ambushing unsuspecting prey. Spring is the most productive time, as pike move into shallower areas to spawn. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and swimbaits are good choices for enticing strikes. Focus on the north end of the lake, where there tends to be more vegetation. Pike in Lake Roaming Rock are generally opportunistic feeders, so don't be afraid to experiment with different lures and retrieves. Remember that access to Lake Roaming Rock is restricted to residents and their guests, so ensure you have proper authorization before fishing. Also, be prepared for the possibility of catching largemouth bass, as they are the dominant species in the lake.
