Northern Pike

While not a renowned pike destination, anglers around Uhrichsville, Ohio, can find opportunities for northern pike in some of the larger reservoirs and rivers within a reasonable drive. Tappan Lake, Piedmont Lake, and Leesville Lake, all part of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District, are good options. These lakes offer the weedy bays and shallow flats that pike prefer, particularly in the spring as the water warms. Early spring and late fall are typically the best times to target them. Focus on areas with submerged vegetation or timber. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and crankbaits are effective lure choices. Launch ramps are available at each of the lakes. The pike in this region aren't typically trophy-sized, but a dedicated effort can produce some quality fish. Be sure to use a wire leader to prevent bite-offs.
