If you're looking to tangle with Northern Pike in Northeast Ohio, Wadsworth offers a few decent options. While not a trophy pike destination, the area lakes and reservoirs, particularly those connected to the Cuyahoga River watershed, can hold some surprises. Spring is prime time as the pike move into shallower weedy areas to spawn, making them accessible to bank anglers and those with smaller boats. Focus your efforts around Chippewa Lake and Lake Dorothy. Early morning and late evening are generally the most productive times. A practical tip: Chippewa Lake's public access can get crowded, so arrive early, especially on weekends. Also, be prepared to fish through some submerged vegetation – weedless lures and topwater baits can be your best friends. The pike here tend to average in the 2-5 pound range, but larger individuals are definitely present. Don't be afraid to experiment with larger swimbaits and jerkbaits to entice a strike from a bigger fish.
