Northern Pike

While not as well-known for pike as some other regions, Beallsville, Pennsylvania, offers a few spots where you might tangle with a Northern Pike. Dutch Fork Lake offers the best opportunity for pike in this area. Spring and early fall are the most productive times, as the pike are more active in cooler water. During the warmer months, they tend to retreat to deeper, cooler areas. A helpful local hint: target areas with submerged vegetation or timber, as pike are ambush predators. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and crankbaits are all effective lure choices. Also, consider using a wire leader to prevent bite-offs. While the pike population isn't huge, there are some decent-sized fish to be caught. Be prepared for a good fight if you hook into one of these toothy predators!
