Northern Pike

Conneaut Lake in Pennsylvania is a fantastic location to target Northern Pike, especially if you're after a trophy. This natural lake provides ideal habitat for pike, with plenty of weed beds, submerged timber, and varying depths. Early spring, just after ice-out, is a particularly productive time as pike are often found in the shallows near spawning grounds. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and jerkbaits are all good choices to entice these aggressive predators. As the water warms in summer, focus on deeper weed lines and drop-offs. A wire leader is essential when targeting pike here, as their teeth are incredibly sharp. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission maintains a public boat launch on the north end of the lake, providing easy access. Keep an eye out for local fishing reports, as pike activity can fluctuate depending on water temperature and weed growth. Conneaut Lake is known for producing some truly impressive pike, so be prepared for a battle!
