Northern Pike

If you're after Northern Pike in Pennsylvania, Linesville and the Pymatuning Reservoir should be high on your list. Pymatuning's expansive, shallow weedy areas are prime habitat for pike, offering plenty of ambush points. Spring, right after the ice melts, is an excellent time to target them as they move into these shallows to spawn. Fall is another productive period when pike aggressively feed before winter. Large spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and jerkbaits worked around weed edges are consistently effective. Don't be afraid to use wire leaders, as pike have sharp teeth. A local tip is to focus on the northern end of the reservoir near the Jamestown area, where there are extensive weed beds. Also, be mindful of Pymatuning's unique 'Controlled Fishing Area' along the causeway, which has specific regulations to protect the fish population.
