Rainbow Trout

While Fulton isn't a renowned trout destination, there are limited opportunities for rainbow trout fishing within a reasonable drive. Some smaller streams and lakes in the area are stocked periodically by the Missouri Department of Conservation. These stockings provide a put-and-take fishery, offering anglers a chance to catch stocked rainbows. Check the MDC website for stocking schedules and specific locations. Spring and fall are typically the best times to fish for stocked trout, as the water temperatures are more suitable. Small spinners, spoons, and flies are effective lures. Local tip: trout that have been recently stocked often congregate near the stocking location, so focus your efforts in those areas. Also, be aware of any special regulations, such as catch-and-release only areas or gear restrictions.
