Focus your efforts in the Shallotte River and the creeks that feed into it. Spring and fall are particularly productive, as the Redfish school up in these areas. Low tide is your friend, as it concentrates the fish and exposes oyster beds, which Reds love to patrol. Live shrimp under a popping cork is a classic presentation that's hard to beat. For artificials, try gold spoons or soft plastic paddle tails. A local tip: the area around the bridge pilings on the Shallotte River can be particularly productive, especially on a moving tide.
