Smallmouth bass fishing near Gary, Indiana, might not be the first thing that comes to mind, but the urban waterways and nearshore areas of Lake Michigan offer surprisingly good opportunities. Focus your efforts in the Burns Ditch and the Little Calumet River, as well as the rockier sections of the shoreline.
