Smallmouth Bass

Smallmouth bass fishing near Romulus, Michigan, is best found by venturing slightly outside the immediate area to the Huron River. While the Huron is better known for largemouth, there are stretches, particularly upstream from Romulus, that hold smallmouth. Look for rocky areas, current breaks, and submerged wood. Topwater lures, crankbaits, and tubes are all effective. The fall is an excellent time to target smallmouth, as they feed heavily before winter. A local tip: wading can be a productive way to fish the Huron, allowing you to access areas that are difficult to reach by boat. However, be cautious of slippery rocks and changing water levels.
