The best time to target smallmouth bass is typically from late spring through early fall. Smallmouth bass tend to be more active in warmer water, so focus your efforts on days with sunny skies and warmer temperatures. Topwater lures, crankbaits, and soft plastics are all effective presentations. A local tip: Smallmouth can be wary, so use lighter line and make long casts to avoid spooking them.
