Smallmouth Bass

While Sisters, Oregon, isn't primarily known for its smallmouth bass fishing, you can find some surprisingly good opportunities in the Deschutes River below Bend, a short drive away. The warmer sections of the river, especially where it slows down and widens, provide suitable habitat for smallmouth. Summer is the peak season, as the water temperatures rise and the bass become more active. Look for rocky outcroppings, submerged logs, and weed beds, as these are prime ambush points for smallmouth. Be aware that the Deschutes can get crowded during the summer months, so arriving early or fishing during the week can improve your chances of finding a good spot.
