Smallmouth Bass fishing near Sequim requires a bit of exploration, as they are not as prevalent as in some other parts of Washington. While not the primary target species, some of the larger rivers and lakes on the Olympic Peninsula *may* hold small populations. It's worth researching specific lakes further inland. If targeting Smallmouth, the warmer months (late spring through early fall) are generally best, as the fish are more active. Look for rocky shorelines, drop-offs, and areas with current. Small crankbaits, tube jigs, and Ned rigs can be effective. Be aware that access to some of these areas can be limited, requiring hiking or a small boat.
