Spanish mackerel are a fast-moving, exciting target species accessible from Ocala with a relatively short trip to the coast. Head east to the Atlantic or west to the Gulf – both offer opportunities. The best time to target them is during the warmer months, particularly spring and fall, when they migrate along the coast.
