Spotted Bass

If you're a fan of Spotted Bass, Cumming, Georgia, offers excellent opportunities on Lake Lanier. These feisty fish are abundant and known for their aggressive strikes. Unlike Largemouth, Spotted Bass tend to favor deeper, clearer water and rocky structure. Lake Lanier's lower end is a prime location for targeting them. Focus on points, humps, and drop-offs, especially those with rocky bottoms. Carolina rigs, drop-shot rigs, and small crankbaits are all effective. Spotted bass are less affected by the thermocline than largemouth, allowing you to fish deeper during the summer months. One effective tactic is to target spotted bass feeding on blueback herring. Watch for surface activity and use lures that imitate these baitfish. A local tip: Spotted bass are known to school tightly, so if you catch one, keep fishing the same area.
