Spotted Bass

While not as abundant as largemouth or white bass, spotted bass can be found in Ute Lake near San Jon, New Mexico. Targeting them specifically requires a slightly different approach. Focus your efforts on areas with rocky structure, deep water near bluffs, and submerged timber. Spotted bass tend to prefer these habitats compared to the more weedy areas favored by largemouth. Spring and fall are the best times to target spotted bass, as they move into shallower water to feed.
