If you're looking to tangle with some hard-fighting striped bass in northern Alabama, give Henagar a look. While not directly on the Tennessee River, Henagar provides a convenient base for accessing several nearby striper hotspots. Focus your efforts on the tailwaters below Guntersville Dam or Nickajack Dam, both within a reasonable drive. These areas benefit from the oxygenated water and abundant baitfish swept through the dams, creating ideal conditions for stripers. Spring and fall are prime times, as the stripers follow shad migrations. For bank access, check out the areas around the public boat ramps at Guntersville State Park. Trolling large crankbaits or live bait around the river channels is a productive method. Be aware of the generation schedules at the dams, as water levels can fluctuate rapidly.
