Striped Bass

For freshwater striped bass in Alabama, Stevenson is a strategic location, thanks to its proximity to the Tennessee River and Guntersville Lake. While not as renowned as some other striper hotspots, the area holds a decent population of these hard-fighting fish, especially during their spring and fall runs. Look for stripers near the dam at Guntersville Lake, as well as in the main river channel around creek mouths and points. Trolling with large crankbaits or live shad is a popular and effective technique. Anglers also have success casting swimbaits and bucktails near structure. A key local tip is to monitor the water discharge from the dam, as increased flow often triggers striper activity.
