Striped Bass

While Enterprise, Mississippi, might not be the first place that springs to mind for striped bass, the nearby impoundments of the Chickasawhay River, like those formed by dams, offer a surprising opportunity to target these hard-fighting fish. Spring and fall are the key seasons, as stripers move upriver to spawn or follow baitfish schools. Trolling with crankbaits or live bait around points and submerged structure can be effective. Another option is to fish tailrace areas below dams, where stripers often congregate to feed on disoriented baitfish. Access to the reservoirs is generally good, with several public boat ramps available. Early morning and late evening are often the most productive times to fish.
