Striped Bass

If you're heading to Branson, Missouri, with striped bass on your mind, you're likely targeting Table Rock Lake and Bull Shoals Lake. These deep, clear reservoirs offer excellent striper habitat. The key here is understanding the thermocline, especially during the summer months when stripers will seek cooler, deeper water. Focus your efforts around main lake points, submerged timber, and near the dam where cooler water is often released. Spring and fall are prime times, as the stripers are more active and feeding aggressively in shallower water. A local tip: shad imitation lures are your best bet, and don't be afraid to troll them at varying depths until you find the fish. Also, pay close attention to the water clarity – if it's exceptionally clear, downsize your presentation and use fluorocarbon leaders. Stripers in Table Rock and Bull Shoals can be line-shy.
