Looking to hook into some walleye near Lake Zurich, Illinois? While Lake Zurich itself offers some fishing opportunities, the real walleye action is a bit further afield. Focus your efforts on the Fox River, particularly the Chain O' Lakes system just north of Lake Zurich. Spring and fall are prime times, as walleye move into shallower water to spawn or feed heavily before winter. Try targeting areas with current breaks, submerged timber, or rocky points. A jig tipped with a minnow or a crankbait worked slowly along the bottom can be deadly. For access, consider boat launches on the Chain O' Lakes like those near Antioch or Fox Lake. Be aware that the Fox River can experience fluctuating water levels, especially after heavy rains, so check conditions before you head out. The walleye in this region tend to be good-sized, with some real trophies lurking in the deeper holes of the Chain O' Lakes.
