Walleye

Walleye fishing near Duquesne, Missouri, presents a unique challenge and reward. Unlike some states where walleye are stocked heavily, these fish are more naturally established in the Spring River and its tributaries. The best time to target them is during the spring spawning run (late March-early May) as they migrate upstream. Another good time is late fall (October-November) as they feed heavily before winter. Focus on areas with current breaks, rocky bottoms, and deeper pools. Local anglers often have success with jigs tipped with minnows or nightcrawlers, especially after dark.
