The best time to target weakfish here is generally from late spring through early fall, when the water warms and baitfish are abundant. Focus your efforts around structure like bridge pilings, jetties, and channel edges where weakfish ambush prey. A practical tip is to access Shinnecock Bay via the Ponquogue Bridge for excellent shore-based opportunities. Remember that weakfish are notoriously line-shy, so using fluorocarbon leaders is a must. Pay close attention to water clarity; these fish prefer slightly stained water.
