Weakfish

Weakfish, known for their delicate mouths and beautiful coloration, offer a thrilling fishing experience near Westhampton Beach. These fish tend to be more prevalent in the warmer months, typically from late spring through summer, as they migrate into the bays and estuaries to spawn. Look for them in areas with eelgrass beds, sandy flats, and near channel edges within Shinnecock Bay and the Peconic Bay system. Weakfish are ambush predators, so focus on areas with good current flow. A popular technique is to drift live shrimp or small baitfish under a popping cork.
