White Bass

If you're after some exciting White Bass action, Cedar Vale, Kansas, might surprise you. While not as well-known as some other Kansas locations, the area's creeks and rivers, particularly the Grouse Creek and the Caney River, offer opportunities to tangle with these feisty fish. Spring is prime time, as the white bass migrate upstream to spawn. Look for them in areas with current, such as riffles and below dams or bridge pilings. Small jigs, spinners, and crankbaits are all effective lures. During the summer, white bass often move into deeper pools and can be caught by trolling or casting from shore.
