White Bass

Cave City provides a convenient base for targeting white bass in Barren River Lake. These schooling fish offer fast-paced action, particularly during their spring spawning run. Look for them in the upper reaches of the lake and in the tributary streams that feed into it. They'll often congregate near points, submerged timber, and rocky areas. Small crankbaits, spinners, and jigs are all effective lures. White bass fishing can be productive throughout the summer as well, especially during early morning and late evening hours. Fall also provides another opportunity to catch white bass as they feed heavily before winter. The boat ramp at Barren River Lake State Resort Park offers easy access to the lake. Local tip: White bass are schooling fish, so if you catch one, there are likely more in the area. Pay attention to your surroundings and look for signs of activity, such as birds diving or fish breaking the surface.
