White Bass

White bass fishing near Ridgeland revolves around the Pearl River and, most notably, the Ross Barnett Reservoir. These schooling fish provide fast-paced action, especially during their spring spawning runs. From late February through April, white bass migrate upstream to spawn, congregating below dams and in river channels. Later in the year, white bass can be found schooling in open water, chasing shad. Look for surface activity or use your sonar to locate schools. Keep an eye on water levels; high water can make access difficult in some areas.
