White Bass

For some fast-paced action, the white bass run near Sperry, Oklahoma, is a must-try. These feisty fish migrate upstream to spawn in the spring, offering excellent fishing opportunities in the creeks and rivers that feed into Skiatook Lake. The Keystone Dam tailwaters can also be productive. The key is timing: the run typically peaks in March and April, depending on water temperatures and rainfall. Small jigs, spinners, and crankbaits are all effective lures. A local tactic is to look for birds diving on schools of shad, as white bass will often be feeding underneath.
