While 'winter' flounder fishing technically extends from late fall through early spring, the most consistent action is typically from November through February. Look for muddy or sandy bottoms with some structure like docks, pilings, or submerged vegetation. A productive strategy is drifting slowly with a bottom rig baited with small pieces of bloodworm or shrimp. A local tip: check the wind forecast carefully. Strong northerly winds can muddy up the water and shut down the bite. Also, access can be limited in some areas, so scout out public access points and boat ramps in advance using online resources or by asking at local tackle shops.
