Atlantic Cod

Narragansett, Rhode Island, offers a unique approach to Atlantic Cod fishing compared to more northerly locations. While not as heavily targeted as in Maine or Massachusetts, cod fishing is still viable, particularly in the cooler months. The winter cod fishery can be surprisingly productive, with fish often found in relatively shallow waters compared to their summer haunts. Using diamond jigs or bait rigs tipped with clams or squid is a common tactic. Cod in this area tend to be smaller than those found further north, but they can still provide excellent sport, especially on lighter tackle.
