Black Sea Bass

While not as common as other species inshore, Black Sea Bass can be found while fishing around structure off Richmond Hill, GA. The best bet is to head to nearshore reefs and wrecks during the cooler months, especially late fall and winter. These fish congregate around hard bottom and artificial reefs. A standard bottom fishing rig with squid or cut bait works well. Look to the artificial reefs located a few miles offshore. The Savannah Snapper Banks are a good option, but be prepared for a longer boat ride. Check the regulations, as seasons and size limits can vary. Also, be aware of the current, as it can be strong in these areas, requiring heavier weights to hold bottom.
