Black Sea Bass

Black Sea Bass fishing out of Tybee Island offers a great opportunity for bottom fishing. These fish congregate around reefs, wrecks, and other submerged structures. The best time to target Black Sea Bass is during the cooler months, from fall through spring. They're typically found in deeper water, so you'll need a boat to access the best fishing grounds. A local tip: Use a bottom fishing rig with multiple hooks baited with squid or cut bait. Be prepared for a steady retrieve, as Black Sea Bass tend to stay close to the bottom. Many of the artificial reefs off Tybee hold good numbers of these fish. Be mindful of the regulations, as there are often size and bag limits in place to protect the Black Sea Bass population. These tasty fish make for an excellent meal after a successful day on the water.
