Black Sea Bass

While not as widely targeted as some other species, Black Sea Bass can offer some excellent fishing opportunities near Rocky Point, particularly around offshore reefs and wrecks. These bottom-dwelling fish are most active during the cooler months, from late fall through early spring. Look for structure in the deeper waters of the Atlantic, accessible by boat from nearby marinas. Using bottom fishing rigs with squid or cut bait is a reliable method. A local recommendation is to try fishing around the artificial reefs located a few miles offshore; these areas hold good numbers of sea bass. Be prepared for some current, and use enough weight to keep your bait on the bottom. Remember to check the regulations regarding size and bag limits, as they can vary.
