Blackfin Tuna
Chasing Blackfin Tuna off Boynton Beach is a game of understanding the Atlantic's currents and the bait they bring. This area's proximity to the Gulf Stream makes it a prime location, especially when the water warms up in late spring through summer. Look for temperature breaks and weed lines, as these often hold schools of tuna feeding on smaller baitfish. Natural presentations are key; pilchards and small jigs that mimic local forage work well. Don't be afraid to experiment with depth, as these fish will move up and down the water column depending on temperature and current. A local tip: the Boynton Beach Inlet can be a hotspot as tuna move in and out with the tides, but be mindful of strong currents. Also, check local reports for recent sargassum weed sightings, as these floating mats can hold massive schools of Blackfin.
