Blacknose Shark
Miami's proximity to the Gulf Stream makes it a prime location for targeting Blacknose Sharks. These smaller sharks are abundant in the inshore and nearshore waters, offering anglers a consistent fishing opportunity. Look for them around Biscayne Bay, along the beaches, and near the numerous inlets and channels. The warmer months, from spring through fall, are ideal for targeting Blacknose Sharks, as they are more active in warmer water. Fishing from shore with cut bait, such as ladyfish or mullet, is a common method. Alternatively, you can target them from a boat by drifting or anchoring near structure. A helpful local tip: Focus your efforts around areas with strong tidal flow, as this concentrates baitfish and attracts sharks. Also, be prepared for other species, as Miami's waters are teeming with marine life. Blacknose Sharks in this region typically range from 2 to 4 feet in length and provide a fun fight, especially on lighter tackle. This is an accessible and rewarding fishery for anglers of all levels.
