Bluefish

Provincetown, Massachusetts, at the tip of Cape Cod, is a bluefish haven. The convergence of currents and the abundance of sand eels make this area a prime feeding ground, especially during the summer and early fall. Bluefish here are known for their aggressive strikes and powerful runs. Surface plugs and poppers are highly effective, creating exciting topwater action. When the fish are deeper, try trolling spoons or casting metal jigs. Focus your efforts around Race Point and the backside beaches. Be mindful of the strong tides and currents in this area; they can significantly impact your drift and lure presentation. Boat access from Provincetown Harbor is readily available, but shore anglers can also find success casting from the beaches. Remember to use wire leaders to prevent bite-offs from these toothy predators.
