Bluegill

Grenada Lake is a bluegill paradise, especially if you time your trip right. Spring is prime time, when these panfish move into the shallows to spawn. Focus on areas with submerged vegetation or flooded timber near the banks. As the water warms into summer, they'll retreat to deeper, cooler water around submerged structure. A simple worm and bobber rig is deadly, but don't overlook small jigs or crickets. Local tip: the north end of the lake, fed by the Skuna River, often holds clearer water than the southern end, which can be heavily stained after rains. Keep an eye on water clarity and adjust your bait presentation accordingly. The bluegill here are known for their size, thanks to the fertile waters and abundant forage. Be prepared for some real slabs!
