Hybrid Striped Bass

Looking to tangle with some hard-fighting hybrids? Grenada Lake in Mississippi is your spot. These fish, a cross between striped bass and white bass, are stocked in the lake and offer fantastic action. Spring and fall are generally the best times to target them, as they follow shad schools. Trolling crankbaits or casting swimbaits near points and humps can be very effective. Live bait fishing with shad is also a popular technique. Check recent fishing reports, as the hybrids tend to school up and move around the lake. One local trick is to look for bird activity; diving gulls often indicate shad schools being pushed to the surface by feeding hybrids. The Highway 8 bridge area is a well-known spot, but don't be afraid to explore other areas. These fish are aggressive and will give you a great fight.
