Brown Trout

Brown trout fishing in Westminster might not be the first thing that comes to mind, but the area offers some surprisingly accessible opportunities. While the South Platte River flowing through Denver is the main draw for trout anglers in the region, smaller creeks and streams near Westminster can hold decent populations of browns. These fish are typically smaller, but the chance for a quick fishing trip close to the city is a definite plus. Spring and fall are the best times to target browns, as the water temperatures are more favorable. Access to some of these creeks can be limited, so be sure to do your research and obtain any necessary permits or permissions.
