Brown Trout

While Almont isn't a renowned trout destination, determined anglers can find Brown Trout in some stretches of the Clinton River and its tributaries. These aren't stocked waters, so the trout are wild and can be challenging to catch, but that makes the reward all the sweeter. Spring and fall are the most productive times, with cooler water temperatures encouraging trout activity. Early morning and late evening are often the best times to fish. Access can be tricky, as much of the land along the river is private. However, some road crossings and public access points exist along the Clinton River Greenway. Wading can be difficult due to varying water depths and currents, so exercise caution. Small spinners, dry flies, and nymphs are effective presentations. The Brown Trout in this area are known to be wary, so use light line and natural presentations. Stealth is key – approach your fishing spots quietly and avoid spooking the fish.
