The closest option is likely the Lake Taneycomo tailwater below Table Rock Dam, a renowned trout fishery. While it's a bit of a drive, the chance to catch a trophy brown trout makes it worthwhile. The best time to target browns here is during the cooler months, particularly fall and winter, when they are more active. Night fishing can also be very productive. Focus your efforts on deep pools and runs, using streamers, jerkbaits, or crankbaits that imitate the local forage. Be aware of the generation schedule at Table Rock Dam, as water levels can fluctuate rapidly. Access is available at several public access points along the lake, including outlets below the dam.
