The warmer waters and abundant forage create ideal conditions for these whiskered predators. Summer nights are prime time for catfish, when they become more active and move into shallower areas to feed. Stink baits, cut bait, and live bait like bluegill or shad are all effective choices. Focus your efforts around rocky points, submerged timber, and areas with current. A popular local tactic is to fish near the mouth of the Bill Williams River, where the influx of fresh water attracts baitfish and, in turn, catfish. For flatheads, try fishing larger live baits near deep structure. Several boat ramps provide easy access to the lake, but be prepared for potential crowds, especially during peak season. Catfish in Lake Havasu can reach impressive sizes, so be sure to bring heavy tackle and be ready for a fight.
