A simple minnow under a bobber is a classic and effective technique, but small jigs can also be deadly. During the summer months, crappie will often move deeper, suspending around submerged structure. A fish finder can be invaluable for locating these schools. Keep an eye on water clarity, as crappie prefer clearer water. Local tip: many of the smaller ponds are best fished from the bank or a small boat, so consider bringing a kayak or canoe.
