If you're chasing crappie in Northwest Georgia, Taylorsville offers some excellent opportunities. The prime location here is easily Lake Allatoona, known for its deep, clear waters and abundant crappie population. Spring is undoubtedly the best time to target these fish as they move into shallower areas to spawn. Look for them around submerged timber, docks, and brush piles in coves and creeks. A small minnow under a bobber is a classic and effective presentation. In the fall, crappie will school up again as the water cools, often suspending near deeper structure. Try trolling small crankbaits or jigs to locate these schools. Be aware that Allatoona can get crowded, especially on weekends, so consider fishing during the week if possible.
