Crappie fishing near Madison, NJ, revolves around finding the right structure in relatively small bodies of water. Look to nearby lakes and ponds that offer submerged timber, brush piles, or docks – these are crappie magnets. Spring, during the pre-spawn and spawn, is the peak season when crappie move into shallow water to nest. A simple jig and bobber rig is incredibly effective, especially when tipped with a live minnow or crappie nibble.
