Dusky Shark
Fort Lauderdale offers excellent opportunities for targeting Dusky Sharks in the Atlantic Ocean. The Gulf Stream's proximity means these sharks are commonly found patrolling the offshore waters, particularly during their seasonal migrations. The best time to target them is generally from late spring through early fall, when water temperatures are warmer. Given their protected status, catch-and-release is the only permissible practice for Dusky Sharks. Consider using circle hooks to minimize injury during release. Drifting with a chum slick is a highly effective technique for attracting sharks to your boat. Several marinas in Fort Lauderdale, like Bahia Mar, offer charter services specializing in shark fishing. Hillsboro Inlet Park provides access for shore-based anglers, but be prepared for a long fight with heavier tackle. Always consult local regulations before fishing, as restrictions may apply regarding gear and permitted fishing zones. Fort Lauderdale's Dusky Sharks are known for their impressive size and powerful runs, providing a thrilling angling experience.
