Snook fishing in the Fort Lauderdale area is a year-round pursuit, but understanding seasonal patterns is key to success. The Intracoastal Waterway, canals, and inlets provide prime habitat for these ambush predators. During the warmer months (spring through fall), snook are more active and readily take a variety of lures and baits. Focus your efforts around docks, bridges, and seawalls, especially during periods of low light. In the cooler months, snook tend to congregate in warmer, deeper water. A local tip is to use live shrimp or pilchards, especially around bridges with lights at night. Snook are sensitive to pressure, so use a stealthy approach. Also, be mindful of the regulations; snook are a protected species with specific size and bag limits.
