Flounder

Pascagoula offers some fantastic Flounder fishing, particularly for those willing to put in the time and effort. The key is to target areas with sandy or muddy bottoms near structure. Focus on the edges of channels, docks, and piers. The fall months are particularly productive as Flounder migrate towards the Gulf for spawning. A great place to start is near the mouth of the Pascagoula River. Try using a live baitfish, such as a mud minnow or finger mullet, on a Carolina rig. Another effective method is slowly dragging a jig head with a soft plastic trailer along the bottom. A local tip: Patience is key when Flounder fishing; give them time to take the bait. Also, be aware of the current and adjust your weight accordingly to maintain bottom contact. Keep an eye out for subtle taps on your line, as Flounder are notorious for their soft bites.
