If you're targeting flounder in the Cape May Court House area, focus your efforts in the back bays and tidal creeks that characterize this region of New Jersey. These shallow, silty areas hold good numbers of flounder, especially during the warmer months. Spring and early summer are prime time, as the fish move into these areas to feed and spawn. Drifting with a baited fluke rig tipped with squid or killies is a proven technique. Pay close attention to water clarity; flounder prefer relatively clear water. Accessing these productive areas is easiest with a small boat or kayak launched from one of the many marinas or public ramps in the area. Don't overlook the channels and drop-offs, as flounder will often hold in these areas during tidal changes. Remember that flounder fishing is often best on a moving tide.
